Anonymous created the topic: Howard Miller Mantle Clock advice and part?
I purchased a Howard Miller Westminster Mantle clock at an antique store today. It was not working and I got a good deal. I brought it home, opened it up, and cleaned it a bit and it is working. However, it will not stop chiming!!
There appears to be a broken pin (I found the tiny pin in the bottom of the clock) from this part (whose name I do not know-- see attached pics)
It appears that when the chime sequence is supposed to end the hook above will drop, catch the pin, and stop the cycle.
I am really enjoying troubleshooting and fixing this. It reminds me of time I spend as a child (back in the ‘70s) with my grandfather.
I don’t know if it makes sense to replace the part or to try to press out the remainder of the pin and replace it.
Without knowing what the part is called, I am at a bit of a standstill. I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.
The model of the clock is Howard Miller 612-437 and the movement is 354040i
Any information you can provide would be helpful. Thank you very much.
